DEADSTOCK & RECYCLED FABRICS
100% MATERIALS &
DEADSTOCK & RECYCLED FABRICS
Deadstock fabrics are the leftovers from other fashion brands that they over purchased and eventually sent to landfills. By using these, we are not only contributing to lessen the piles in landfills, but also creating one of a kind pieces. Sometimes these fabrics don't come with known contents or its origin. We carefully handpick those that are traceable so we can minimize the risk of operating with non-environmentally friendly processed materials.
With the nature of deadstock fabrics being unpredictable in its quantities, we will be running a small production, often only a few pieces, which allows us to be more creative and thorough with the quality.
Recycled fabrics are materials that are recycled & recreated to produce new materials, and this can include polyester, plastic, cotton, linen, etc. The most common ones are recycled plastic textiles, usually recycled plastic bottles or fishing nets.
Honestly, the only benefit these fabrics have to the planet is that they aren't NEW products, which helps reduce the use of tons of water & harsh chemicals released during the process.
Although incorporating these materials aren't enough to be completely eco-friendly, it's a step we are dedicating ourselves to take to lower our impact.
This is another way we commit to building a sustainable brand and lifestyle. We use recycled tissue paper for packaging that are made from 100% recycled paper, 20% post consumer waste, and these are biodegradable as well.
We also minimize paper printout such as brochures or hangtags, and use recycled fabrics and scrap pieces from production for our hangtag so they get a second use out of them and you may reuse it for your own purposes.
STCH Collection is in the works for 2021. This is a collection purely made of fabric remnants from our production so that we would have close to 0% waste.
Starting out, we are not at that 100% sustainable mark yet in our materials and production, but our 2-year goal is to reach that 100% and creatively develop and direct our path into renewables and recyclables.
100% MATERIALS & BB INITIATIVE
100% materials are the only fabrics that can be recycled because there is no technology at the moment to separate blended fibers (mixed materials). We love 100% cottons, and we are planning on incorporating more celluose/natural fibres such as Tencel, Modal, and Lyocell.
We are planing to start our own "Bring Back" initiative which will allow to reduce the amount of garment waste, and give us the a challenge to create upcycled unique pieces.
Local production minimize our net carbon footprint. Garment transport has a huge CO2 emission, which can be reduced by minimizing the distances during production. Since we locally produce in Atlanta, GA, we have no unneeded CO2 emission.
100% cotton fabrics are one of the sustainable materials we are dedicated in using to be environmentally friendly. Being a natural fibre, they are renewable, durable, biodegradable, and up-cyclable. 🌱
